FUNKFEST – SOUND & VISION 🎶
What’s a funk-filled fest without the right soundtrack? This year, we’re bringing you an electrifying lineup of DJs spinning 100% vinyl grooves—plus a stunning art expo by Danibal, the artist behind this year’s Funkfest artwork.

🎨 DANIBAL (Daniel Hentschel) – @_danibal
Illustrator, experimental vocalist, and jaw harpist, Danibal is a creative force like no other. Known for his live cartooning at events, he’s bringing a special exhibition to Funkfest! During the lockdowns, he launched ODE AAN DE FIETS, inviting Utrecht residents to draw their bikes—truly seeing them for the first time. He then added riders, bringing the drawings to life in a playful way.
💡 A selection of these works will be on display, and you can even contribute your own bike drawing to the project!

🎧 CPT. SLOW & SAAZGUEUZE
These two aren’t just DJing—they’re part of the Haring family. When they’re not dropping funky beats, they’re brewing next door, crafting the beers you love.

Since moving from London to Utrecht in 2001, Alec has been a staple behind the decks, playing in countless cafés and bars. His sets cross time & genre, weaving unexpected connections that keep you guessing, grooving, and coming back for more.

Digging for fresh funk and juicy boogies since 2012. Former amateur DJ for Utrecht nightlife, today is retired from the DJ jetset and spins exclusively at events with a lot of craft beer...

Funkfest isn’t just about wild drinks—it’s a full-on flavor explosion! And this year, we’re bringing you a mouthwatering selection of funky, fermented, and downright delicious bites. With less than two weeks to go before the fest, meet the culinary legends serving up the goods:

👨‍🍳 VENSTER UTRECHT – @vensterutrecht
Our favorite flavor wizards from Leidsche Rijn are teaming up with fermentation guru Berend Weij to bring you next-level koji and kimchi creations. The result? Funked-up burgers, both vegan and meaty, designed to hit that umami sweet spot.

🌶️ CHAOTIC SPICE – @chaoticspice.nl
Spice heads, rejoice! These flavor anarchists are blending Japanese spices with their signature chaotic touch. Their spice blends bring the heat, but don’t sleep on their Japanese Currybroodje—a golden, crispy, curry-filled dream. Get ready to spice up your nervous system!

🧀 ABRAHAM KEF – @fromagerie_kef
Amsterdam’s legendary cheesemongers since 1953, Kef has been championing raw milk cheeses and artisanal flavors long before funky was cool. Aged, ripened, and oozing character—just how we like it. Throughout the day they will be there to give you advice on how to best pair with all the drinks served.

🥬 BOOGIE CULTURES – @boogiecultures
Ferment fanatics bringing bold, gut-loving flavors to Funkfest! Their kimchi (with pumpkin and cauliflower!), Tuscan sauerkraut, and creamy cashew spreads are here to shake up your taste buds. Funky, probiotic, and packed with punch—this is fermentation on the dancefloor.

Come hungry, come thirsty, and get ready to indulge in the funk!

Funkfest is all about the wild, the funky, and the unexpected—and expanding beyond beer, we’re bringing in some incredible makers who share that love for fermentation magic:

🍵 Cha Moods (TEA) - @chamoodstea
Straight from Amsterdam, Cha Moods curates single-origin Chinese teas with deep, complex flavors. For Funkfest, they’re showcasing the wilder side of tea—earthy Pu'er, spicy rock oolongs, and wild white teas.
🔥 EXCLUSIVE TASTING at 14:00—limited spots, tickets at the bar!

🌀 DeGrow Lab (KOMBUCHA) - @degrow_lab
A Dutch kombucha microbrewery obsessed with flavor and sustainability. Expect craft kombucha with depth, funk, and a refreshing tartness—bringing complexity without the alcohol.

🍷 Vleck Wijnen (WINE) - @vleckwijnenutrecht
Natural wine, raw and real. Vleck Wijnen works with European winemakers who embrace minimal intervention, letting wild yeasts and terroir shine. No additives, no shortcuts—just pure vin naturel.

🍏 Het Ciderhuis (CIDER) - @hetciderhuis
Championing real cider in the Netherlands, Het Ciderhuis sources from small-scale producers who make cider the traditional way. Wild fermentation, pure apples—no nonsense, just full-on flavor.

🍯 Mederij Marcus (MEAD) - @mederijmarcus
Mead made the old way—just honey, water, and time. Mederij Marcus takes natural fermentation to the next level, even keeping their own bees.

🍶 Otemba (SAKE) - @otembasake
Sake is alive, just like wild beer! Otemba brings premium, naturally fermented sake from small, family-run breweries in Japan to Europe. Crisp, rich, and endlessly complex. Kanpai!

Tuesdays just got better!

We’ve been open on Tuesdays for a while now, and to celebrate, we’re making them extra special with two monthly events:

📅 TASTY TUESDAY – Every second Tuesday of the month (which means tomorrow!), all beer flights (4 tasters) are just €12,50! The perfect excuse to explore more flavors.

📅 COZY TUESDAY – Every last Tuesday of the month, we turn up the coziness in the pub. This month, on March 25th (17:00 - 21:00), we’re hosting a CLOTHESSWAP! Bring any clothes you no longer wear and swap them for something new-to-you. Take home as many items as you bring! ♻️👕👗
